Glasgow City Basketball Club - Inclusive Section
Inspired by a simple principle: training and playing together is a quick path to understanding, acceptance and friendship, breaking down the barriers that exist for people with an intellectual (learning) disability
Shoot for Success in partnership with Glasgow City Basketball Club formed an inclusion section for young people with intellectual (learning) disabilities making it one of the few integrated clubs in Scotland
In September 2018 our group started with 6 members we now have 24 registered members with more enquires to Join.
The section is registered with basketballscotland, Scottish Disability Sports and Special Olympics Scotland giving us access to training opportunities, events and competitions.
We operate weekly sessions, development days and holiday programmes. During the Covid-19 lockdown, we operated virtual training sessions, bingo, quizzes and had weekly visits with activity packs and equipment.
The section gives young people the opportunity to be part of a sports club.
